World-class Soccer Events
Seattle is set to host two world-class soccer events – the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup – bringing waves of global fans to our region. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC are set to host matches. Skagit County is poised to see an influx of visitors from attendees watching these matches and also from attendees traveling to nearby fanzones.

Watch Parties & Events
Fanzones are designated areas where fans can gather to watch live broadcasts of FIFA World Cup matches on large screens. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, several cities in Washington State, including Bellingham, Bremerton, Everett, Olympia/Lacey, Spokane, Tacoma, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Yakima, will host official fanzones. Seattle Center will serve as the primary hub for fan activities in Seattle.
While Skagit County was not chosen to host an official fanzones, our communities may have opportunities to host local watch parties and other events.


Regional Planning & Preparation
The Skagit Tourism Bureau and Skagit County are working closely together to facilitate FIFA planning and preparation committee meetings. Several interlocal partners are invited to attend these meetings to ensure collective efforts on strategy. Organizations such as local municipalities, local chambers, the Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County, Skagit Transit, Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), 911, and The Department of Emergency Management and working together to ensure all aspects of safety, communication, and infrastructure are accounted for in preparation.
We are also partnering with statewide destination marketing organizations (DMOs), sports commissions, and the State of Washington Tourism office to ensure collaboration and cohesive messaging.
2025 FIFA Club World Cup
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is headed to Seattle this June, bringing six international teams to face off at Lumen Field. As one of just 11 U.S. host cities, Seattle will be part of this exciting new global tournament – a major event for soccer fans everywhere.
How is it different from FIFA World Cup 2026? While both are major soccer events, they’re completely separate and take place a year apart. The FIFA Club World Cup features top club teams – like the Seattle Sounders – competing against each other, while the 2026 World Cup is all about national teams representing their countries.
The tournament runs June 15th-July 13th, 2025.

- June 15, 2025: Seattle Sounders FC (USA) vs Botafogo (Brazil)
- June 17, 2025: CA River Plate (Argentina) vs Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan)
- June 19, 2025: Seattle Sounders FC (USA) vs Atlético de Madrid
- June 21, 2025: FC Internazionale Milano (Italy) vs Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan)
- June 23, 2025: Seattle Sounders FC (USA) vs Paris Saint-Germain (France)
- June 25, 2025: FC Internazionale Milano (Italy) vs CA River Plate (Argentina)

2026 FIFA World Cup
Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC will be a host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the largest sporting event in the world. The event is expected to draw over 750,000 visitors to the region in summer 2026, with hotels within a two-hour radius likely to sell out.
Sports fans will be traveling between cities in the Western Region staying overnight and spending dollars in market.* In total, the event is projected to generate $929 million in revenue for King County.**
Important Updates:
- Final team matchups won’t be announced until December 2025.
- A total of 48 countries will compete across 16 cities in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
- Seattle’s Lumen Field (capacity: 68,780) will host six matches between June 15 and July 6, 2026.
FIFA’s official Fanzone will be located at Seattle Center, with space for up to 20,000 fans at once. Additional Fanzones are planned for Bremerton, Bellingham, Everett, Olympia/Lacey, the Tri-Cities (Pasco/Richland/Kennewick), Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, and Yakima.
Official ticket sales haven’t begun yet – stay alert and avoid scams.
