I-5 Bridge Collapse – EXITS TO LA CONNER ARE OPEN

UPDATE:  I-5 Bridge Collapse Between Mount Vernon and Burlington

The I-5 bridge collapse is between Mount Vernon and Burlington.  If you are heading to La Conner, Anacortes or the San Juan Islands from Seattle, the EXIT IS OPEN (and is south of the I-5 bridge collapse) to La Conner.  You can then continue on to Anacortes and/or the San Juan Islands via the ferries.  If you are heading to La Conner (or Anacortes and/or the San Juan Islands) from Vancouver BC, the EXITS ARE OPEN and are North of the I-5 bridge collapse.

Will will keep you updated on the traffic situation and any changes in normal traffic patterns in and around La Conner.

Google Maps: Alternate routes Around I-5 Bridge Collapse

If you’re traveling from the south (Seattle area):
Follow I-5 north to Conway and take Exit 221 to La Conner. Turn left at the stop sign after the exit ramp, cross over I-5, then turn right at the gas stations. Follow the signs to La Conner. This route twists and turns a little but will bring you right into the town of La Conner and Morris Street. The La Conner Visitor Information Center is located at 511-C Morris Street, which is in the second block of Morris Street (after the roundabout) and on your right.

If you’re traveling from the north (Vancouver):

I-5 Bridge Collapse Alternative Exit From the North: take exit 231 (Highway 11 – Chuckanut Drive), the Josh Wilson Road exit.  At the roundabout head west on Josh Wilson, turn left on Farm-to-Market Road, head south on Farm-to-Market Road,  turn right on State Route 20.  There are highway signs directing you to turn left at the stoplight at La Conner-Whitney Road – the best landmark for this turn is Farmhouse Restaurant, on your left. Follow La Conner-Whitney Road going south until you reach the roundabout that leads into La Conner.

This route is open also but may have traffic congestion from detours:  Follow I-5 south and take Exit 230 at Burlington, then turn left at the stoplight heading toward Anacortes on WA-20 W.  There are highway signs directing you to turn left at the stoplight at La Conner-Whitney Road – the best landmark for this turn is Farmhouse Restaurant, on your left. Follow La Conner-Whitney Road going south until you reach the roundabout that leads into La Conner.
