Skagit County’s Farmland Legacy Program has finalized three farmland preservation projects in the past three months, permanently protecting another 105 acres of farmland from residential development. The additional acres of farmland now under conservation easement protection bring the total protected farmland in Skagit County to more than 14,200 acres.

Fourth Farm for 2021 Added to Farmland Preservation Program
This fall, Skagit County finalized a conservation easement on a 103-acre property to permanently limit the land’s use to farming.
Skagit County’s Farmland Legacy program celebrates its 25th year of preserving Skagit farmland in 2021. The program has permanently protected more than 13,500 acres of high-quality and productive agricultural land. An additional 500 acres are in the pipeline for protection.
