The Concrete Chamber is happy to announce that we’re finally able to host the first Mountain Film Festival in Concrete after two years of cancellations!

The event will be held Jun 2-5, 2022, at the Concrete Theatre in Town Center. It’s a celebration of mountains — near and far — through movies, multimedia presentations, photography, guest speakers, and live music.

Feature-length documentaries include This Mountain Life; The Alpinist; Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey; and The Mountain Runners. Shorter films will highlight local mountain-biking and hiking trails, mountain safety, and the area’s history.

We are excited to be joined by special guests Jeff Kish of the Pacific Northwest Trail Association, Oak Rankin of Glacier Peak Institute, and climbing enthusiast Jeremy Akers. Prozac Mountain Boys will provide live bluegrass music. Thanks to other participating businesses and organizations: Puget Sound Energy, Andy Porter Photography, and Seattle City Light, for partnering with us on this event.

You can find the schedule of films and presentations at www.mountainsonfilm.com.

The film festival coincides with the Mount Baker Ultramarathon, a 56-mile out and back foot race from Concrete to Mount Baker’s Sherman peak at 10,160 ft. The race draws its inspiration from the Mount Baker Marathon that lasted for three years, from 1911 to 1913. Seventy or more runners will start in Town Center at midnight on June 4. More information about the race is at www.mtbakerultra.com.

The 99-year-old Concrete Theatre is located at 45920 Main Street, in Town Center. The Concrete Chamber of Commerce appreciates financial support from Skagit County and other contributors to make this event possible.
