Boneshaker Bicycle Festival 2014 - Visit Skagit Valley

Boneshaker Bicycle Festival 2014

Join us on October 25, 2014, for this Halloween-inspired, quintessentially Northwest bike ride event – Boneshaker Bicycle Festival 2014!

boneshaker_bicycle_festival_2014Did you know that what we today commonly call a bicycle was dubbed as the ‘bone shaker’ way back in 1869?  It got that name because it was made of wood and had metal tires … and that combination on cobblestone roads made for an extremely uncomfortable ride.  Fortunately, there are no cobblestone roads on the map for the Boneshaker Bicycle Festival 2014

Pull out your Boneshaker (we hope it’s more comfortable!), and put on your costume to join the crowd of creepy creatures at this unique cycling event.  Enjoy views of the countryside and beautiful Cascade mountains as you pedal off 100 kilometers of this metric century on mostly flat, comfortable roads of La Conner and the Skagit Valley.

The mass start will begin at the Channel Lodge in the historic waterside town of La Conner.  With special offers from our presenting sponsors, entertainment, and a great staff to help you. You’ll find this a spooktacular biking event for everyone!  Click here for more information and dates.

Another great way to join in the excitement and fun is to become a fan on The Boneshaker Bicycle Festival Facebook page!

Boneshaker Bicycle Festival 2014 – Plan Your Trip

We recommend you plan; if you stay overnight, you will want to make reservations at one of La Conner’s lodging establishments. You’ll be centrally located and within a few minutes of the fun – you’ll also find it easy to shop in our many specialty stores and dine at one of our amazing restaurants.

Whether you’re a bicycle enthusiast or in need of an active fall getaway for two or a group of family or friends, or are looking for fun kids’ activities before the weather turns wintry, register for the Boneshaker Bicycle Festival and check out our website’s online activity and event calendar, the Love La Conner Blog, or call the La Conner Visitor Center at 360-466-3735/888-642-9248 for more information.
