What started as a way to bring visitors to Anacortes during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has turned into an exciting 10 day series of events for the Anacortes Arts Festival.

Anacortes Art In BloomThis year they are celebrating their 3rd annual Art in Bloom lineup at the Depot Art Center in Anacortes, April 15 – 23. A Juried Exhibition featuring 30 regional fine artists opens April 15 at 6pm. It continues April 15-23, daily from 11 – 4. The show includes painting, photography, sculpture, glass, wood and mixed media work.

An Evening of Color on Saturday, April 16, starting at 6pm is the Festivals annual auction event to support arts education in the Anacortes School District. This event will include both a live and silent auction of art items and creative experiences. Food trucks will provide unique appetizers, a bar will sell wine, beer and craft cocktails – and the frosting on the cake will be auctioned desserts from the community. The ART OF SHOPPING is a NEW event on Sunday, April 17 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Geared toward women, it will include wearables, jewelry, accessories and hand crafted art – as well as art activities and tulips for sale. A mimosa bar (also offering champagne, wine & beer) will add to the fun of the event. There will be an hourly raffle that includes a variety of jewelry, art pieces and accessories. Admission is free with a suggested donation that helps support the Anacortes School District Cultural Arts Program. Doors open early for a Private Shopping Event from 10:00 – 11:00 am, where for $10, guests will be among the first to shop and be treated to free mimosas and a raffle ticket.

The 5k Do the Bloom Color Run takes place on Saturday, April 23, starting at 10am. Runners of all ages will be liberally dusted with colorful powder throughout the run. This fun event is suitable for groups, families – and even friendly dogs. Proceeds fund public art projects. Sign up ahead of time through Active.com, or on the day of the race.
